Year Before Application Cycle (T-12 months)
January - March:
•Identify your target application year
•Research programs and create a spreadsheet of requirements
•Register for and take the GRE (if required by your programs)
•Begin shadowing a CRNA if you have not already
April - June:
•Request letters of recommendation early — give recommenders at least 3-4 months
•Begin drafting your personal statement
•Ensure your CCRN is obtained or scheduled
July - September:
•Most programs open applications in August-September
•Finalize and submit applications as they open (do not wait for the deadline)
•Ensure your transcripts are ordered and sent
Application Cycle Year
October - December:
•Applications due at most programs
•Expect interview invitations starting in October/November
•Prepare for interviews: practice behavioral questions, review anesthesia concepts
January - March:
•Interview season peaks
•Acceptances typically begin rolling out
•Prepare for waitlist or reapplication if needed
April - May:
•Most programs send final decisions
•Commit to your program and begin preparing for orientation
